Device detection for Logstash !

Ever wanted a high performance device detection plugin for Logstash ? Well, wait no longer, we’ve just released one ! :-) Full details on plugin configuration and installation are available at our Device Detection for Logstash repo. The plugin can also detect browsers, operating systems (platforms) and apps. It also supports “ultimate”, “community” and “cloud” detection methods. Cloud detection sends requests to our servers for resolution. Ultimate and Community are both super fast local detection methods which run on your own servers.

New Global Locations

Just a quick note today to let you know that we’ve added two new global locations, Sydney (Oceania) and Singapore (Asia) to our global of points of presence. This makes detection requests for customers using Cloud (our API web service) and Express (our javascript detection snippet) much snappier in the Asia pacific region. Sydney and Singapore join Germany and USA as countries where we host clusters.

Monster Update – Detection for the Internet of Everything

This week we’ve released a major update to Handset Detection with a fully customizable white label portal, new pricing plans and, most importantly, the final round of API v4 updates for Cloud and Ultimate detection. Lets break each of these down to see how they work. White Label Customers on Business and higher level plans will now be able to create and manage their own white label portal. Change colours, add your own branding, maintain your own customers, add custom javascript and create your own (remotely loaded) pages.

API v4 Released for Express Detection

Today we’re thrilled to announce the latest release of our detection software for clients using Express Detection (Javascript). Version 4 contains a major rewrite of our detection engine, faster performance and higher accuracy in cases where HTTP headers do not uniquely identify a device. It also lays the ground work for a range of features we have heading your way shortly. To take advantage of v4 high accuracy you will need to adjust your scripts.

I find the Asian device market, and emerging markets in general, fascinating. By and large they’ve skipped the desktop and gone straight to mobile devices. In this infographic we take a look at Android in Vietnam. Nokia has excellent traction here with its Nokia X and Nokia XL devices, Samsung isn’t far behind, but has a much greater device diversity (which we had to trim from the models section for brevity).
